CVE-2026-113138
Description
A flaw was found in chromium-browser. This vulnerability is caused by a memory corruption issue within the WebAppInstalls component. A remote attacker could exploit this flaw by enticing a user to visit a specially crafted HTML page, potentially allowing the execution of arbitrary code outside the browser's isolated security environment (sandbox).
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as Important severity because exploitation can allow an unprivileged remote attacker to escape the browser sandbox and execute arbitrary code on the host system, expanding the blast radius beyond the isolated process. Successful exploitation relies on user interaction, requiring a target to navigate to a malicious web page. Chromium is maintained in Fedora and Extra Packages for Enterprise Linux (EPEL) repositories and is not shipped or supported as part of Red Hat Enterprise Linux core offerings.
Understanding the Weakness (CWE)
Integrity
Technical Impact: Modify Memory; Execute Unauthorized Code or Commands
Write operations could cause memory corruption. In some cases, an adversary can modify control data such as return addresses in order to execute unexpected code.
Availability
Technical Impact: DoS: Crash, Exit, or Restart
Attempting to access out-of-range, invalid, or unauthorized memory could cause the product to crash.
Other
Technical Impact: Unexpected State
Subsequent write operations can produce undefined or unexpected results.
