CVE-2026-113088
Description
A flaw was found in chromium-browser. A remote attacker could exploit a memory corruption vulnerability by convincing a user to open a specially crafted HTML page. Successful exploitation could allow the attacker to execute arbitrary code within the browser sandbox (a restricted execution environment).
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as Important severity because successful exploitation allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to run arbitrary code inside the sandboxed renderer environment if a user visits a malicious website. Although execution is confined by process isolation mechanisms and requires user interaction, the capability for remote code execution without privileges drives the higher severity rating. The Chromium browser is not included in core Red Hat Enterprise Linux channels, limiting applicability primarily to community builds in Fedora and EPEL.
Understanding the Weakness (CWE)
Integrity
Technical Impact: Modify Memory; Execute Unauthorized Code or Commands
Write operations could cause memory corruption. In some cases, an adversary can modify control data such as return addresses in order to execute unexpected code.
Availability
Technical Impact: DoS: Crash, Exit, or Restart
Attempting to access out-of-range, invalid, or unauthorized memory could cause the product to crash.
Other
Technical Impact: Unexpected State
Subsequent write operations can produce undefined or unexpected results.
