CVE-2026-113064

Description

A flaw was found in chromium-browser. A memory corruption vulnerability in the OptimizationGuide component allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code within the browser sandbox by convincing a user to open a crafted HTML page. Although execution is restricted to the sandbox environment, this flaw compromises the integrity of browser processes.

Statement

This vulnerability is rated as an Important severity flaw because an unauthenticated remote attacker can achieve arbitrary code execution by enticing a user to load a malicious web page, though execution remains confined to the sandbox. While sandbox containment limits the blast radius by preventing direct host compromise, renderer compromise exposes active session data. Within Red Hat ecosystems, Chromium is not shipped in core Red Hat Enterprise Linux channels and is available only through community repositories like EPEL, meaning default server installations remain unaffected.

Understanding the Weakness (CWE)

Integrity

Technical Impact: Modify Memory; Execute Unauthorized Code or Commands

Write operations could cause memory corruption. In some cases, an adversary can modify control data such as return addresses in order to execute unexpected code.

Availability

Technical Impact: DoS: Crash, Exit, or Restart

Attempting to access out-of-range, invalid, or unauthorized memory could cause the product to crash.

Other

Technical Impact: Unexpected State

Subsequent write operations can produce undefined or unexpected results.
