CVE-2026-113044

Description

A flaw was found in chromium-browser. This flaw allows a remote attacker to achieve arbitrary code execution within the browser's sandbox due to a use-after-free memory vulnerability in the V8 JavaScript engine. An attacker can exploit this issue by convincing a user to open a specially crafted HTML page.

Statement

This vulnerability is rated as having an Important severity because successful exploitation enables code execution within the isolated renderer process when a victim visits an attacker-controlled site. Chromium is not included in supported Red Hat Enterprise Linux releases, being distributed solely through community streams such as EPEL. Furthermore, the overall risk is constrained by browser sandboxing, requiring an auxiliary container or sandbox bypass before host-level compromise can occur.

Understanding the Weakness (CWE)

Confidentiality

Technical Impact: Read Memory

If the expired pointer is used in a read operation, an attacker might be able to control data read in by the application.

Availability

Technical Impact: DoS: Crash, Exit, or Restart

If the expired pointer references a memory location that is not accessible to the product, or points to a location that is "malformed" (such as NULL) or larger than expected by a read or write operation, then a crash may occur.

Integrity,Confidentiality,Availability

Technical Impact: Execute Unauthorized Code or Commands

If the expired pointer is used in a function call, or points to unexpected data in a write operation, then code execution may be possible.
