CVE-2026-113024
Description
A flaw was found in chromium-browser. This vulnerability allows a remote attacker to achieve arbitrary code execution inside the sandbox environment by convincing a user to visit a specially crafted HTML page. The issue is caused by a use-after-free condition in the WebAppInstalls component, where the application attempts to access memory that has already been deallocated.
Statement
Red Hat has evaluated this vulnerability as having an Important severity impact because an unauthenticated remote attacker can execute arbitrary instructions if a user is convinced to visit a malicious web page. Although exploit execution is constrained within the browser's sandbox environment, the potential for remote code execution justifies an Important rating over Moderate. Exposure across Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments is limited because Chromium is not provided in core operating system repositories and is only distributed through EPEL and Fedora.
Understanding the Weakness (CWE)
Confidentiality
Technical Impact: Read Memory
If the expired pointer is used in a read operation, an attacker might be able to control data read in by the application.
Availability
Technical Impact: DoS: Crash, Exit, or Restart
If the expired pointer references a memory location that is not accessible to the product, or points to a location that is "malformed" (such as NULL) or larger than expected by a read or write operation, then a crash may occur.
Integrity,Confidentiality,Availability
Technical Impact: Execute Unauthorized Code or Commands
If the expired pointer is used in a function call, or points to unexpected data in a write operation, then code execution may be possible.
