CVE-2026-113000
Description
A flaw was found in the Paint component of Chromium. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by convincing a user to open a specially crafted HTML page, triggering memory corruption during rendering. Successful exploitation allows the attacker to execute arbitrary code inside the browser's sandbox environment.
Statement
Red Hat rates this vulnerability as Important severity because remote attackers can achieve arbitrary code execution via user interaction with malicious web content, though execution remains confined to the renderer sandbox. The blast radius is limited because the sandbox boundary prevents immediate compromise of the underlying host operating system. Furthermore, Chromium is not shipped or supported in core Red Hat Enterprise Linux distributions, appearing only within community channels like EPEL.
Understanding the Weakness (CWE)
Integrity
Technical Impact: Modify Memory; Execute Unauthorized Code or Commands
Write operations could cause memory corruption. In some cases, an adversary can modify control data such as return addresses in order to execute unexpected code.
Availability
Technical Impact: DoS: Crash, Exit, or Restart
Attempting to access out-of-range, invalid, or unauthorized memory could cause the product to crash.
Other
Technical Impact: Unexpected State
Subsequent write operations can produce undefined or unexpected results.
