CVE-2026-112947

Description

A flaw was found in Vite. A remote attacker can exploit this flaw to cause information disclosure by sending a crafted request with a WebAssembly query parameter. Vite's internal WebAssembly (Wasm) plugin fails to enforce filesystem access restrictions, reading files from the host disk and returning an error that exposes the file's initial bytes when parsing fails.

Statement

This vulnerability is evaluated as Moderate severity because, although an unauthenticated remote attacker can probe files outside the designated server directory, the leakage is strictly limited to four bytes returned through failure diagnostics rather than allowing complete file exfiltration. In Red Hat products, Vite is primarily utilized as a build-time dependency and client-side tooling framework rather than an externally accessible standalone production web server. Standard deployments do not expose Vite development server instances to untrusted networks, substantially restricting real-world attack vectors.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
