CVE-2026-112085
Description
A flaw was found in webpack-dev-server. When configured to forward WebSocket connections through a proxy, the server does not validate incoming Host or Origin headers on connection upgrade requests. A remote attacker could exploit this by enticing a user to visit a malicious website, enabling the site to establish unauthorized cross-origin connections to backend services through the local server. Consequently, the attacker can read from and write to internal backend services that would otherwise be protected.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
