CVE-2026-112072
Description
A flaw was found in vault-java-driver. The driver's internal JSON parser does not enforce a limit on nesting depth when processing server responses. An authenticated user with write permissions to a Vault path can store deeply nested data, which triggers a stack overflow during parsing and terminates the application's reading thread. This issue results in a Denial of Service (DoS) for any application attempting to read that path.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as Moderate impact because successful exploitation requires an authenticated actor with write privileges to inject malformed secrets, limiting the potential impact to an application-level denial of service. Confidentiality and data integrity remain unaffected, and the blast radius is confined to the specific client thread or process attempting to parse the crafted response. Furthermore, exposure is constrained because backend Vault deployments running version 1.20 or newer inherently reject deeply nested structures, preventing the flaw from being triggered.
Mitigation
Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base, or stability.

Availability
Technical Impact: DoS: Resource Consumption (CPU); DoS: Resource Consumption (Memory); DoS: Resource Consumption (Other)
When allocating resources without limits, an attacker could prevent other systems, applications, or processes from accessing the same type of resource. It can be easy for an attacker to consume many resources by rapidly making many requests or causing larger resources to be used than is needed.
