CVE-2026-111810
Description
A flaw was found in Apache Traffic Server. When processing incoming requests, the server writes an unthrottled diagnostic log entry for each internal header that it strips. A remote attacker can exploit this issue by sending HTTP requests with an unusually high number of internal headers, causing excessive log data generation that may exhaust disk space and result in a Denial of Service (DoS).
Statement
unthrottled per-header diagnostic logging in Apache Traffic Server 9.2.15/10.1.4/10.2.0 allows a remote unauthenticated attacker to exhaust disk space via requests containing many internal @ headers; fixed in 9.2.16/10.1.5/10.2.1
Mitigation
rate-limit or cap diagnostic logging of stripped headers; restrict log verbosity; monitor disk usage
Understanding the Weakness (CWE)
Availability
Technical Impact: DoS: Resource Consumption (CPU); DoS: Resource Consumption (Memory); DoS: Resource Consumption (Other)
When allocating resources without limits, an attacker could prevent other systems, applications, or processes from accessing the same type of resource. It can be easy for an attacker to consume many resources by rapidly making many requests or causing larger resources to be used than is needed.
