CVE-2026-111748
Description
A flaw was found in aiohttp. A remote attacker can bypass security controls by sending an absolute-form HTTP request that spoofs the connection protocol scheme. This issue occurs because the framework evaluates attacker-controlled request-target data rather than verifying the underlying connection protocol. Consequently, applications that rely on the reported scheme to make security decisions may mistakenly treat unencrypted connections as encrypted, potentially leading to unauthorized access or policy circumvention.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as Moderate impact because successful exploitation requires an application's internal security logic to explicitly trust the request scheme attribute for policy decisions, which is uncommon across standard deployments. In Red Hat environments, such as Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform and Red Hat OpenShift AI, services typically operate behind ingress controllers, API gateways, or reverse proxies that independently enforce transport-layer security and TLS policies. Consequently, an attacker cannot bypass access boundaries unless custom application handlers directly depend on this spoofed request target attribute to determine whether a connection is secure.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
