CVE-2026-110928

Description

A flaw was found in OpenSSH. The authorized_keys "restrict" keyword was not applied to tunnel forwarding. When PermitTunnel is enabled, a restricted key can still open a tunnel.

Statement

Red Hat Enterprise Linux is not affected. The downstream patch for CVE-2026-59999 is stricter than the upstream OpenSSH 10.6 fix for this tunnel restriction. PermitTunnel is disabled by default.

Mitigation

No mitigation is required for Red Hat Enterprise Linux. On other builds, keep PermitTunnel set to no.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
