CVE-2026-110756
Description
A flaw was found in Text::CSV_XS. When printing records where a UTF-8 flagged field precedes invalid UTF-8 bytes, the module drops held-back bytes, closing quotes, and line endings without signaling an error. An attacker capable of providing crafted input can exploit this flaw to cause data corruption, resulting in subsequent records being merged or misinterpreted by downstream parsers.
Statement
Red Hat has rated this vulnerability as having Moderate severity because it results in integrity loss through silent CSV output corruption without permitting arbitrary code execution or unauthorized information disclosure. In Red Hat Enterprise Linux, perl-Text-CSV_XS is utilized as a shared library by custom scripts and applications to export tabular data. The issue only manifests when an application handles malformed or non-standard character encodings in record fields, which can lead downstream parsers to misinterpret truncated entries or concatenated rows.
Mitigation
Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base, or stability.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.

Understanding the Weakness (CWE)
Integrity,Confidentiality,Availability
Technical Impact: Execute Unauthorized Code or Commands
This weakness may lead to a buffer overflow. Buffer overflows often can be used to execute arbitrary code, which is usually outside the scope of a program's implicit security policy. This can often be used to subvert any other security service.
Availability,Confidentiality
Technical Impact: Read Memory; DoS: Crash, Exit, or Restart; DoS: Resource Consumption (CPU); DoS: Resource Consumption (Memory)
Out of bounds memory access will very likely result in the corruption of relevant memory, and perhaps instructions, possibly leading to a crash. Other attacks leading to lack of availability are possible, including putting the program into an infinite loop.
Confidentiality
Technical Impact: Read Memory
In the case of an out-of-bounds read, the attacker may have access to sensitive information. If the sensitive information contains system details, such as the current buffer's position in memory, this knowledge can be used to craft further attacks, possibly with more severe consequences.
