CVE-2026-110744
Description
A flaw was found in multicluster-global-hub-operator-bundle. The operator is configured with overly broad role-based access control (RBAC) permissions that grant cluster-wide impersonation of arbitrary users, groups, and service accounts without restriction. An attacker who compromises the operator or obtains its service account credentials can exploit this flaw to achieve privilege escalation, gaining full administrative control over the cluster.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as an Important impact because overly broad impersonation permissions allow complete cluster takeover if the operator identity is compromised. In standard Red Hat Multicluster Global Hub deployments, exploiting this flaw requires high initial privileges to breach the operator deployment or steal its service account credentials. Once compromised, the lack of resource name restrictions enables elevation to administrative groups such as system:masters, bypassing Kubernetes role-based access control boundaries.
Mitigation
Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base, or stability.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
