CVE-2026-110735

Description

A flaw was found in Godot's binary resource loader. When parsing strings, improper validation allows a negative length value to bypass memory allocation checks, resulting in an out-of-bounds write to the heap during data copying. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by tricking a user or game into loading a specially crafted binary resource file, potentially leading to application crashes, a Denial of Service (DoS), or arbitrary code execution.

Statement

This vulnerability is evaluated with an Important severity because successful exploitation can result in arbitrary code execution or process termination under the privileges of the executing user. While the potential impact on system confidentiality, integrity, and availability is high, exploitation requires a victim to explicitly load a maliciously crafted binary resource file. Furthermore, the Godot Engine is not included or deployed in standard Red Hat Enterprise Linux releases, significantly limiting risk across enterprise systems.

Understanding the Weakness (CWE)

Integrity

Technical Impact: Modify Memory; Execute Unauthorized Code or Commands

Write operations could cause memory corruption. In some cases, an adversary can modify control data such as return addresses in order to execute unexpected code.

Availability

Technical Impact: DoS: Crash, Exit, or Restart

Attempting to access out-of-range, invalid, or unauthorized memory could cause the product to crash.

Other

Technical Impact: Unexpected State

Subsequent write operations can produce undefined or unexpected results.
