CVE-2026-109405
Description
A flaw was found in conductor. A remote attacker can trigger Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) by supplying a manipulated bootstrap server parameter in a Kafka publish task. This flaw enables the application to initiate unauthorized connections to arbitrary internal or external network resources, potentially leading to information disclosure.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as Important severity because an unauthenticated remote entity can force the application to connect to arbitrary network targets, potentially exposing internal services or sensitive resources. Exploitation requires submitting workflow definitions configured with attacker-controlled Kafka bootstrap broker addresses. Conductor is not shipped or supported in Red Hat Enterprise Linux or other core platform offerings, leaving standard Red Hat deployments unaffected.
Understanding the Weakness (CWE)
Confidentiality
Technical Impact: Read Application Data
Integrity
Technical Impact: Execute Unauthorized Code or Commands
Access Control
Technical Impact: Bypass Protection Mechanism
By providing URLs to unexpected hosts or ports, attackers can make it appear that the server is sending the request, possibly bypassing access controls such as firewalls that prevent the attackers from accessing the URLs directly. The server can be used as a proxy to conduct port scanning of hosts in internal networks, use other URLs such as that can access documents on the system (using file://), or use other protocols such as gopher:// or tftp://, which may provide greater control over the contents of requests.
