CVE-2026-108755
Description
A flaw was found in Hatchet. A remote, unauthenticated attacker can cause a Denial of Service (DoS) by sending excessively large or concurrent requests to the Simple Notification Service (SNS) ingestion endpoint. Because the application buffers the entire request payload into memory prior to signature verification, this issue can exhaust system memory and disrupt service availability.
Statement
This vulnerability is assessed with a Moderate impact because an unauthenticated remote attacker can degrade service availability through memory exhaustion, while confidentiality and system integrity remain intact. Exploitation is limited to exhausting daemon resources via publicly reachable webhook endpoints prior to payload authentication. Additionally, Hatchet is not packaged or distributed in any supported Red Hat products.
Understanding the Weakness (CWE)
Availability
Technical Impact: DoS: Resource Consumption (CPU); DoS: Resource Consumption (Memory); DoS: Resource Consumption (Other)
When allocating resources without limits, an attacker could prevent other systems, applications, or processes from accessing the same type of resource. It can be easy for an attacker to consume many resources by rapidly making many requests or causing larger resources to be used than is needed.
