CVE-2026-107815

Description

A flaw was found in MariaDB. An authenticated user with permission to use the CONNECT storage engine can exploit an incorrect boundary check when handling DOS table types to write beyond the allocated stack buffer. This flaw could lead to arbitrary code execution or cause the database server to crash, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS).

Statement

This vulnerability is rated as an Important impact for Red Hat Enterprise Linux because it could allow an authenticated database user to corrupt stack memory and execute arbitrary code or trigger a denial of service. The risk is reduced in standard configurations because the CONNECT storage engine is shipped as an optional subpackage and is not enabled by default. Exploitation is therefore restricted to systems where this optional engine has been explicitly installed and untrusted users have been granted permissions to query or define CONNECT tables.

Mitigation

Upgrade to the fixed version of MariaDB Server

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

Understanding the Weakness (CWE)

Integrity

Technical Impact: Modify Memory; Execute Unauthorized Code or Commands

Write operations could cause memory corruption. In some cases, an adversary can modify control data such as return addresses in order to execute unexpected code.

Availability

Technical Impact: DoS: Crash, Exit, or Restart

Attempting to access out-of-range, invalid, or unauthorized memory could cause the product to crash.

Other

Technical Impact: Unexpected State

Subsequent write operations can produce undefined or unexpected results.
