CVE-2026-107677

Description

A flaw was found in FFmpeg. An attacker could cause a Denial of Service (DoS) by supplying a specially crafted media presentation description (.mpd) manifest containing an empty media segment URL. When processed by the Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (DASH) demuxer, this input triggers an infinite loop, consuming excessive CPU resources and causing the application to become unresponsive.

Statement

This vulnerability is rated as Moderate impact for Red Hat products because exploitation requires processing an untrusted media manifest, and the failure mode is restricted to an application hang or resource exhaustion without compromising system confidentiality or integrity. In Red Hat deployments, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux AI and OpenShift AI container images, FFmpeg is utilized within media ingestion workflows rather than as an unauthenticated network daemon. A maliciously crafted DASH manifest can induce an infinite loop during demuxing, but the operational impact remains confined to the individual processing task or container.

Mitigation

Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base, or stability.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
