CVE-2026-107604

Description

A flaw was found in the installation provider and client registration endpoints of the Keycloak identity management service. A realm administrator with only the read-only view-clients role can access the active primary secret of any confidential client, which should normally be restricted. This exposed secret can be used to impersonate the client and gain unauthorized access to its associated service account permissions.

Statement

The Red Hat Product Security team has assessed the severity of this vulnerability as Moderate, given that exploitation requires the attacker to hold the realm-management:view-clients administrative role. Successful exploitation allows an attacker to retrieve active client secrets and impersonate confidential clients. The vulnerability's root cause is the failure to mask sensitive credentials in the response body of specific installation provider and registration endpoints.

Mitigation

Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base, or stability.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
