CVE-2026-106550

Description

A flaw was found in convict. An attacker capable of submitting untrusted configuration keys can bypass property filters within the config.set() function to modify base JavaScript objects. This prototype pollution allows the attacker to alter fundamental language methods, causing persistent process-wide failures and resulting in a denial of service (DoS) that requires an application restart.

Statement

This vulnerability is rated as Important because an unauthenticated attacker can induce an unrecoverable denial of service by corrupting base runtime prototypes across an entire Node.js process. The rating reflects the severe availability impact, as successful manipulation forces a full service outage rather than localized degradation. In typical Red Hat deployments, exposure is limited because configurations are populated statically or through administrative mechanisms rather than arbitrary user-supplied input.

Mitigation

Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base, or stability.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
