CVE-2026-106455

Description

A flaw was found in the Backstage @backstage/plugin-techdocs-node package. This vulnerability allows information disclosure when an authenticated attacker with control over a TechDocs documentation repository exploits improper validation of MkDocs plugin configurations. During documentation builds, the attacker can cause the build process to retrieve and publish sensitive data from network locations reachable by the build environment.

Statement

This vulnerability is rated as Moderate impact for Red Hat Developer Hub and Ansible Automation Platform because exploitation requires authenticated privileges to modify documentation source repositories. In typical deployments, generated documentation builds execute within isolated environments where sensitive metadata endpoints enforce token-based authentication, substantially limiting unauthorized data exposure. Furthermore, an attacker cannot achieve arbitrary code execution or compromise host integrity, as the impact is confined to retrieving and publishing information from internal network destinations reachable by the documentation build runner.

Mitigation

Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base, or stability.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
