CVE-2026-104848

Description

A flaw was found in tinypool. When an attacker is able to modify base JavaScript object properties (prototype pollution), tinypool inadvertently copies these inherited configuration values into newly spawned worker threads. An attacker can exploit this behavior by injecting malicious startup arguments or environment variables, resulting in arbitrary code execution with the privileges of the host process.

Statement

Red Hat rates this vulnerability as Important. An attacker who can modify an object prototype in an application using tinypool may cause newly created worker threads to load attacker-controlled JavaScript through inherited worker options. Products are affected only where the vulnerable tinypool code is shipped and reachable in a runtime path

Mitigation

Update tinypool to version 2.1.1 or later when the fixed package is available for the affected product. Until then, prevent untrusted input from modifying JavaScript object prototypes and avoid passing attacker-controlled objects into worker options. No universal workaround has been validated by Red Hat.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
