CVE-2026-104024

Description

A flaw was found in PeaZip. The application relies on an incomplete list of restricted file extensions when prompting users before opening files directly from an archive on Windows. By convincing a user to open a specially crafted archive containing executable shortcut files, an attacker can trigger arbitrary command execution without displaying a security warning prompt. Any launched command executes with the permissions of the active user.

Statement

This vulnerability is rated as an Important severity because an attacker can achieve arbitrary command execution within the victim's session by convincing them to open a specially crafted archive item. However, PeaZip is not shipped or supported in Red Hat Enterprise Linux, appearing only in Fedora community packages. Additionally, the flaw targets Windows-specific shortcut handling and shell invocation behavior, rendering Red Hat enterprise environments unaffected.

Mitigation

Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base, or stability.
