CVE-2026-103663
Description
A flaw was found in Ollama. This vulnerability allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to achieve arbitrary code execution by exploiting a path traversal flaw in the model pull application programming interface (API) endpoint. By supplying a crafted layer identifier, an attacker can write malicious files outside the intended storage location. If these files are written to executable application directories, the server loads and executes them upon restart, compromising the host system.
Statement
Moderate impact is assigned to this flaw because achieving code execution requires specific write permissions to privileged system directories, limiting the blast radius under standard constrained deployments. Although upstream services risk arbitrary file writes when processing manipulated layer requests, Red Hat enterprise products do not ship the vulnerable implementation. Consequently, Red Hat products and container offerings are not affected by this vulnerability.
Mitigation
Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base, or stability.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
