CVE-2026-103505

Description

A flaw was found in the AWS Elastic File System (EFS) Container Storage Interface (CSI) Driver. A remote authenticated user with permissions to create persistent storage volumes can supply crafted comma-separated values within volume configuration attributes. This improper input handling allows the injection of arbitrary mount options, potentially leading to unauthorized access to or modification of underlying file system data.

Statement

Red Hat has reviewed CVE-2026-103505 in the AWS EFS CSI Driver. The vulnerability allows an authenticated user with permission to create PersistentVolumes to inject mount options through the mounttargetipmap volume attribute. Red Hat rates this issue Moderate with a CVSS 3.1 score of 6.5. Red Hat is validating the driver versions shipped in each OpenShift release.

Mitigation

Restrict PersistentVolume creation permissions to trusted users and follow least-privilege RBAC practices. Upgrade the AWS EFS CSI Driver to version 3.5.0 or later when the corresponding Red Hat update is available. Until then, avoid using the affected mounttargetipmap attribute with untrusted input.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
