CVE-2026-103503

Description

A flaw was found in hex. When a custom Certificate Authority (CA) store is configured to restrict trusted authorities, hex inadvertently continues to validate certificate chains against its bundled CA certificates. An attacker capable of intercepting network traffic and holding a certificate issued by a bundled CA can impersonate a trusted host to the client. This issue can result in unauthorized data disclosure or tampering.

Integrity,Authentication

Technical Impact: Bypass Protection Mechanism; Gain Privileges or Assume Identity

When a certificate is invalid or malicious, it might allow an attacker to spoof a trusted entity by interfering in the communication path between the host and client. The product might connect to a malicious host while believing it is a trusted host, or the product might be deceived into accepting spoofed data that appears to originate from a trusted host.
