CVE-2026-102944
Description
A flaw was found in cpp-httplib. When following cross-origin HTTP redirects, the client fails to remove Cookie headers before sending the request to the new target. A remote attacker controlling a redirect server or observing unencrypted traffic can exploit this flaw to capture session cookies intended for the original origin, resulting in information disclosure.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as Important because remote actors controlling redirect targets can intercept sensitive session credentials without requiring privileged access or user interaction. cpp-httplib is not distributed in supported Red Hat Enterprise Linux products, confining exposure to external applications or community-maintained packages that compile against this header-only library. In deployments utilizing client functionality with automatic redirection enabled, sensitive session state data may inadvertently leak to untrusted third-party hosts.
Understanding the Weakness (CWE)
Confidentiality
Technical Impact: Read Files or Directories; Read Application Data
Sensitive data may be exposed to an unauthorized actor in another control sphere. This may have a wide range of secondary consequences that will depend on what data is exposed. One possibility is the exposure of system data - such as file locations, software versions, or device data - that allow an attacker to craft a specific, more effective attack. Alternately, insufficient redaction of Private Personal Information (PPI), Personally Identifiable Information (PII), or other types of information might not harm the secure operation of the product itself, but could be violations of expectations by the product's users.
