CVE-2026-102702

Description

A flaw was found in Xen. A guest domain with read-only access to shared memory can cause memory corruption in another virtual machine. The hypervisor fails to restrict invalidate-without-clean cache operations on read-only grant table mappings. An attacker in a guest virtual machine can exploit this by issuing a cache flush request to corrupt shared memory, compromising data integrity.

Statement

A moderate impact vulnerability was found in the Xen hypervisor when running on Arm systems. The GNTTABOP_cache_flush grant table operation can be issued on memory mapped from another domain, and the hypervisor failed to disallow invalidate-without-clean cache operations against read-only grant mappings. As a result, an attacker able to run code in a guest virtual machine with read-only access to shared memory could issue a cache flush request to corrupt memory belonging to another virtual machine, compromising data integrity and potentially disrupting other guests. According to the upstream Xen advisory, only Arm systems are vulnerable; x86 systems are not affected. Within the Red Hat portfolio, this issue affects the xen package in Fedora (Community Projects); the resolution is delegated to the community maintainers and a fix is being pursued based on the upstream Xen security patches.

Mitigation

Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base, or stability.
