CVE-2026-102461
Description
A flaw was found in vertx-json-schema. When validating arrays configured with the uniqueItems keyword, the validation mechanism performs repetitive pairwise comparisons without an array size limit. A remote, unauthenticated attacker can exploit this vulnerability by submitting a crafted JSON array, leading to excessive CPU consumption and a Denial of Service (DoS).
Statement
An IMPORTANT severity denial of service flaw was found in the Eclipse Vert.x vertx-json-schema library, which is shipped in affected Red Hat offerings that carry the io.vertx:vertx-json-schema dependency, including Red Hat Integration and affected Insights and cloud-services components. When vertx-json-schema validates a JSON array whose schema uses the uniqueItems keyword, the validation performs an O(n²) pairwise comparison loop with no short-circuit or array size limit. A remote, unauthenticated attacker can submit a moderately-sized crafted JSON array to an endpoint that applies such schema validation, causing disproportionate CPU consumption that blocks the Vert.x event loop and results in denial of service. Only availability is affected; there is no impact on confidentiality or integrity. The affected Red Hat offerings are recorded as AFFECTED with resolution DELEGATED, and a fix is being pursued for them. The upstream CVE record scores this flaw 8.7 (CVSS 4.0) while Red Hat assigns 7.5 (CVSS 3.1, IMPORTANT); both scores reflect the same remotely exploitable, availability-only impact that requires no privileges or user interaction.
Mitigation
Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base, or stability.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
