CVE-2026-102272

Description

A flaw was found in pyjwt. When verifying cryptographic keys, the raw JSON Web Key (JWK) parser fails to normalize Unicode byte-order marks (BOM). In mixed-algorithm verification environments, an attacker who knows the public key can supply a key prefixed with a byte-order mark, causing the system to misidentify the public key as a shared symmetric secret. This flaw allows an attacker to forge authenticated JSON Web Tokens (JWT) and bypass authentication controls.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
