CVE-2026-102260

Description

A flaw was found in Nomad. An authenticated user with read permissions in one namespace can bypass authorization restrictions across several read-only Application Programming Interface (API) endpoints. This flaw allows the user to view details about objects in other unauthorized namespaces, resulting in information disclosure.

Statement

This vulnerability is rated as Moderate impact because exploitation requires an attacker to possess valid credentials with existing read permissions, and any unauthorized exposure is limited to reading metadata across namespace boundaries without enabling modification or service disruption. HashiCorp Nomad is not packaged or distributed with Red Hat Enterprise Linux or standard Red Hat software offerings. In environments where Nomad is deployed, the blast radius is confined to cross-tenant data leakage among authenticated consumers.

Understanding the Weakness (CWE)

Access Control

Technical Impact: Bypass Protection Mechanism

Access control checks for specific user data or functionality can be bypassed.

Access Control

Technical Impact: Gain Privileges or Assume Identity

Horizontal escalation of privilege is possible (one user can view/modify information of another user).

Access Control

Technical Impact: Gain Privileges or Assume Identity

Vertical escalation of privilege is possible if the user-controlled key is actually a flag that indicates administrator status, allowing the attacker to gain administrative access.
