CVE-2026-101917

Description

A flaw was found in PyJWT. A remote attacker can trigger a Denial of Service (DoS) through outbound request amplification by submitting tokens containing unknown key identifiers. Because the library does not cache lookup failures or enforce a minimum refresh interval when fetching signing keys, each invalid key identifier forces a new request to the remote JSON Web Key Set (JWKS) server. This allows an attacker to exhaust network resources and overwhelm the configured authentication endpoints.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
