CVE-2026-101804

Description

A flaw was found in MySQL Connector/ODBC. An unauthenticated attacker with local logon access to the host infrastructure, with the assistance of user interaction, can exploit this vulnerability to disrupt service operations. A successful attack allows the adversary to cause a partial Denial of Service (DoS), potentially crashing the local client application or interrupting database connectivity.

Statement

This vulnerability is rated as Low severity because exploitation requires local infrastructure access, complex conditions, and user interaction, while the resulting impact is strictly limited to a partial denial of service. In Red Hat environments, MySQL Connector/ODBC functions as a client-side database connectivity driver. Because the flaw cannot be triggered remotely over the network without user intervention and does not compromise data confidentiality or integrity, typical automated client and server operations face minimal risk.

Mitigation

Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base, or stability.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.

Technical Impact: DoS: Crash, Exit, or Restart

While assertion is good for catching logic errors and reducing the chances of reaching more serious vulnerability conditions, an attacker can still cause a denial of service if they can trigger an assert statement, and if the scope of the assert() extends beyond the attacker's own session. For example, if a server handles multiple simultaneous connections, if an assert() occurs in one single connection that causes all other connections to be dropped, this could be a significant denial of service.
