CVE-2026-100140
Description
A flaw was found in Qt. An integer overflow vulnerability exists in the XML (Extensible Markup Language) parsing functionality within the QXmlSimpleReader component. A local attacker could exploit this flaw by enticing a user or application to process specially crafted XML input. Successful exploitation leads to memory corruption, causing an application crash and resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS).
Statement
An integer overflow vulnerability in the QXmlSimpleReader XML parser within Qt's Qt5Compat module allows a local attacker to cause memory corruption and an application crash via specially crafted XML input.
Mitigation
Migrate client applications from the deprecated QXmlSimpleReader class to QXmlStreamReader in the core Qt XML library. If code migration is not immediately viable, validate and sanitize XML input from untrusted sources prior to parsing.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
