CVE-2025-68800
Description
From CVE.org
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mlxsw: spectrum_mr: Fix use-after-free when updating multicast route stats Cited commit added a dedicated mutex (instead of RTNL) to protect the multicast route list, so that it will not change while the driver periodically traverses it in order to update the kernel about multicast route stats that were queried from the device. One instance of list entry deletion (during route replace) was missed and it can result in a use-after-free [1]. Fix by acquiring the mutex before deleting the entry from the list and releasing it afterwards. Statement
A use-after-free exists in mlxsw_spectrum multicast routing when a route entry is deleted from the multicast route list without holding route_list_lock, while the periodic stats worker traverses the same list. A privileged attacker who can manipulate multicast routes on a host using mlxsw Spectrum hardware can trigger the race to crash the kernel and potentially corrupt memory.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

Understanding the Weakness (CWE)
Confidentiality
Technical Impact: Read Memory
If the expired pointer is used in a read operation, an attacker might be able to control data read in by the application.
Availability
Technical Impact: DoS: Crash, Exit, or Restart
If the expired pointer references a memory location that is not accessible to the product, or points to a location that is "malformed" (such as NULL) or larger than expected by a read or write operation, then a crash may occur.
Integrity,Confidentiality,Availability
Technical Impact: Execute Unauthorized Code or Commands
If the expired pointer is used in a function call, or points to unexpected data in a write operation, then code execution may be possible.
