CVE-2025-61163

Description

A flaw was found in Cohere North AI. The server fails to properly validate the Origin header of incoming connection requests, leading to an excessively permissive cross-domain policy with untrusted domains. This vulnerability could allow an attacker to gain unauthorized access to sensitive information or perform actions on behalf of a legitimate user.

Statement

A cross-domain policy flaw exists in Cohere North AI's HTTP/WebSocket server implementation due to missing validation of the HTTP Origin header on incoming connection requests. A remote attacker can exploit this by tricking an authenticated user into visiting a malicious cross-origin site, allowing the attacker's script to issue unauthorized cross-domain requests or establish WebSocket connections. Within Red Hat container environments, impact is limited to confidential session/event leakage unless the container is deployed in a multi-tenant web context.

Mitigation

Deploy an API gateway or reverse proxy in front of the application to enforce strict Origin header allowlisting and drop cross-domain requests originating from untrusted domains.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
