CVE-2025-50080

Description

From CVE.org

Vulnerability in the MySQL Server product of Oracle MySQL (component: Server: Stored Procedure). Supported versions that are affected are 8.0.0-8.0.42, 8.4.0-8.4.5 and 9.0.0-9.3.0. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows high privileged attacker with network access via multiple protocols to compromise MySQL Server. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized ability to cause a hang or frequently repeatable crash (complete DOS) of MySQL Server. CVSS 3.1 Base Score 4.9 (Availability impacts). CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H).

Statement

A denial of service vulnerability was found in the Server: Stored Procedure component of Oracle MySQL Server. A highly privileged attacker with network access via multiple protocols could exploit this flaw to cause a hang or frequently repeatable crash (complete denial of service) of MySQL Server. The vulnerability impacts availability only; confidentiality and integrity are not affected (CVSS 3.1 base score 4.9, vector CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H), which matches the upstream Oracle severity rating.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8, 9, and 10 ship affected MySQL versions (the mysql, mysql:8.0, and mysql:8.4 components) and are considered affected; a fix is being pursued for these product streams. Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 Extended Lifecycle Support is not affected because the vulnerable code is not present in the MySQL version it ships. For Fedora, the affected MySQL packages are maintained by the Fedora community and the fix has been deferred to future package updates; the residual risk is limited to denial of service by an attacker who already holds high database privileges.

Mitigation

Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base, or stability.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
