CVE-2025-38101
Description
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's ring-buffer component. A local attacker could exploit improper buffer locking in the ring_buffer_subbuf_order_set() function. This could lead to list corruption and other concurrency-related issues, potentially resulting in privilege escalation or a denial of service (DoS).
Statement
This MODERATE impact flaw in the Linux kernel's ring-buffer component could allow a local privileged attacker to cause a denial of service due to improper buffer locking. This vulnerability could even lead to a kernel information leak problem.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
