CVE-2025-38037
Description
From CVE.org
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: vxlan: Annotate FDB data races The 'used' and 'updated' fields in the FDB entry structure can be accessed concurrently by multiple threads, leading to reports such as [1]. Can be reproduced using [2]. Suppress these reports by annotating these accesses using READ_ONCE() / WRITE_ONCE(). Statement
This patch addresses a benign data race in the VXLAN FDB handling code, where the used and updated timestamps were concurrently accessed by multiple threads. Although not security-critical, it caused KCSAN to report a potential race condition during VXLAN traffic handling. The fix involves annotating accesses to these fields with READ_ONCE() and WRITE_ONCE() to clarify the intended relaxed access pattern and suppress false positives.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
