CVE-2024-8883
Description
A misconfiguration flaw was found in Keycloak. This issue can allow an attacker to redirect users to an arbitrary URL if a 'Valid Redirect URI' is set to http://localhost or http://127.0.0.1, enabling sensitive information such as authorization codes to be exposed to the attacker, potentially leading to session hijacking.
Statement
Moderate impact affects Red Hat Enterprise Application Platform, Red Hat Build of Keycloak, and Red Hat Single Sign-On. When a client is configured with a Valid Redirect URI of http://localhost or http://127.0.0.1, a remote attacker can send a malicious authorization link that causes Keycloak to redirect the user to an attacker-controlled URL, potentially exposing an authorization code and enabling session hijacking. The CVSS 3.1 score is 6.1 (AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N), rated Moderate, consistent with the current upstream and Red Hat severity assessments. A fix is being pursued for the affected products under delegated resolution.
Mitigation
Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base or stability.

Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
