CVE-2024-50006
Description
A flaw was found in the kernel's ext4 filesystem. When an EXT4_IOC_MIGRATE ioctl (input/output control) operation, requiring synchronous updates, races with a write(2) system call, it can lead to a deadlock. This deadlock occurs specifically when the CONFIG_PROVE_LOCKING option is enabled, potentially causing a Denial of Service (DoS) by making the system unresponsive.
Mitigation
Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base, or stability.
