CVE-2024-21244

Description

A flaw was found in Oracle MySQL Server telemetry. A high-privileged attacker on the network can read a subset of MySQL Server data. Oracle rates it as difficult to exploit. This is a separate CPU entry from CVE-2024-21243.

Statement

A low severity flaw was found in the MySQL Server Telemetry component of Oracle MySQL. This flaw is difficult to exploit and requires an attacker with high privileges and network access via multiple protocols; successful exploitation can result in unauthorized read access to a subset of MySQL Server accessible data, impacting confidentiality only. Red Hat Product Security rates this flaw as Low severity with a CVSS 3.1 score of 2.2 (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N), consistent with the upstream Oracle assessment. The mysql8.4 package in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 is affected, and a fix is being pursued for it. The mysql components shipped in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9, and the mysql8.0 package in Fedora, were assessed as not affected by this flaw.

Mitigation

Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base, or stability.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
