CVE-2023-53824

Description

From CVE.org

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: netlink: annotate lockless accesses to nlk->max_recvmsg_len syzbot reported a data-race in data-race in netlink_recvmsg() [1] Indeed, netlink_recvmsg() can be run concurrently, and netlink_dump() also needs protection. Statement

A data race in af_netlink.c allowed concurrent readers/writers of nlk->max_recvmsg_len, leading to inconsistent SKB allocation sizes and KCSAN-reported out of boundaries memory read warnings. In practice this is primarily a local DoS/robustness issue.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
