CVE-2023-52654
Description
A security vulnerability was identified in the Linux kernel's io_uring subsystem, specifically related to the handling of file descriptors over UNIX domain sockets. The issue arises from the potential for file reference cycles when io_uring file descriptors are transmitted over sockets using the SCM_RIGHTS mechanism. These cycles can lead to resource leaks and race conditions, particularly with the unix_stream_read_generic() function.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
