CVE-2023-52138

Description

A flaw was discovered in the Engrampa archive manager. By default, cpio will follow stored symlinks during extraction and Engrampa does not check the symlink location. An attacker can craft a malicious cpio or ISO archive that, when extracted by a user, can exploit the vulnerability to write files on locations such as ~/.ssh, ~/.bashrc, ~/.config/autostart/ etc., to achieve full remote command execution on the target/victim system.
