Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.

Red Hat CVSS v3 Score Explanation

The problem of incorrect return value for the case of out of memory is known to be a minimum priority problem and requires some complex conditions to happen to be triggered (race condition). This means that when out of memory, it is very hard to use this situation for actual privilege escalation. As result, A:H for this CVE. The complexity is high, because there is no way to control that this case in particular would be triggered.
