CVE-2022-50750
Description
From CVE.org
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/panel/panel-sitronix-st7701: Remove panel on DSI attach failure In case mipi_dsi_attach() fails, call drm_panel_remove() to avoid memory leak.
Statement
A low-severity flaw was found in the Linux kernel's Sitronix ST7701 MIPI DSI panel driver. If mipi_dsi_attach() fails during driver probe, drm_panel_remove() is not called, so the registered panel resources are never released and kernel memory is leaked. The consequence is limited to availability impact from gradual memory consumption on systems with an affected DSI panel, which is why Red Hat rates this issue LOW severity (CVSS 3.3, AV:L/AC:L/PR:L, availability-only impact); this is significantly lower than the 7.8 score in the upstream CVE record, which assumes a full compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability that this memory leak does not cause. In Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 (kernel and kernel-rt) the vulnerable code is present and a fix is currently deferred to a future maintenance update because the flaw is a low-impact, hardware-specific leak that only manifests when a panel attach fails during probe; the residual risk for affected systems is limited to slow kernel memory exhaustion over time. Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6, 7, 8, and 10, and Red Hat In-Vehicle OS, are not affected because the vulnerable code is not present in those streams.
Mitigation
Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base, or stability.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

Availability
Technical Impact: DoS: Resource Consumption (Other); DoS: Resource Consumption (Memory); DoS: Resource Consumption (CPU)
An attacker that can influence the allocation of resources that are not properly released could deplete the available resource pool and prevent all other processes from accessing the same type of resource. Frequently-affected resources include memory, CPU, disk space, power or battery, etc.
