CVE-2022-49414
Description
A race condition vulnerability was found in the Linux kernel's ext4 filesystem. This flaw occurs specifically between the ext4_write and ext4_convert_inline_data functions, resulting in inconsistencies in filesystem metadata, potentially causing a kernel panic and a denial of service.
Statement
To successfully exploit this bug, the attacker needs to control the write to the filesystems. Other than having existing root privileges, this is impossible to exploit.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
