CVE-2022-49024
Description
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel. A local attacker could exploit a missing call to m_can_class_free_dev() in the m_can_pci_remove() and m_can_pci_probe() error handling paths. This oversight leads to a memory leak, which could result in a denial of service (DoS) due to resource exhaustion.
Mitigation
To mitigate this issue, prevent the `m_can` kernel module from loading. Create a file `/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-m_can.conf` with the content `blacklist m_can`. Then, regenerate the initramfs using `sudo dracut -f -v` and reboot the system for the changes to take effect. This action may impact functionality that relies on the `m_can` driver, such as Controller Area Network (CAN) bus communication via PCI devices.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

Availability
Technical Impact: DoS: Crash, Exit, or Restart; DoS: Instability; DoS: Resource Consumption (CPU); DoS: Resource Consumption (Memory)
Most memory leaks result in general product reliability problems, but if an attacker can intentionally trigger a memory leak, the attacker might be able to launch a denial of service attack (by crashing or hanging the program) or take advantage of other unexpected program behavior resulting from a low memory condition.

Technical Impact: Reduce Performance
